The 2016 presidential election marked the first time a major party’s presidential nominee appeared on the big screen.
That honor went to former Vice President Joe Biden.
Now, it seems as if the 2020 election is the first step in what could be the first presidential nominee to appear on the cover of the National Enquirer.
In a tweet Tuesday morning, National Enqurr editor-in-chief Chris Ruddy tweeted, “I think we’ll see @berniesanders presidential cover in the coming weeks.
If so, we’ll announce it now.
The Enquirero first revealed the cover on Sunday, and has since published the photo, which depicts Biden and Schumer, who were both running for the Democratic nomination.
Ruddy has previously said the Enquireo is a “liberal rag,” and he has also called the publication “a vehicle for political attacks.”
“If the #Enquirero were a conservative rag, we’d probably call them a ‘liberal rag’,” Ruddy said in March.
